A course under Craft, one of the four moves. An introduction by Dr Alten du Plessis, founder of WorkSmart4Life.

This course is for anyone who wants more from the job they already hold: the specialist who has settled into a role, the manager a few years into a post. You do not need a new title or a new employer to begin.

Job crafting is about changing how you do this job, not changing jobs. It looks at three things you can shape: what you do, who you connect with, and how you think about your work. Each one becomes a place where your values, strengths and interests can show up more often, so that the role fits you better and feels more like your own.

Here you will find a clear path. You begin by understanding what job crafting is and checking your readiness. In Knowing Yourself you name your work values, strengths and interests and bring them together in My Values–Strengths–Interests Profile. You then audit and plan across the three crafting domains, with tools such as My Task Crafting Audit and My Relational Crafting Action Plan. After about four weeks you look back with My 4-Week Job Crafting Reflection and write My Ideal Job Vision, a forward-looking picture of your role with a concrete commitment.

On WorkSmart4Life this course sits under Craft, the move about shaping the job you already have. You can begin without asking anyone's permission, and the course also shows how to involve your manager when you want to.

I suggest you start with My Job Crafting Readiness Check in the first module. A free 24-hour trial of the whole course lets you see every tool first.
