From the founder: Steady — Your Nervous System Toolkit

A course under Sustain, one of the four moves. An introduction by Dr Alten du Plessis, founder of WorkSmart4Life.

This course is for anyone at work who wants practical, body-based skills for steadier days: the person moving from meeting to meeting, the leader carrying a team through change, the professional who wants to meet pressure with more presence. It is education and practice, not therapy.

Steady starts from the body. It draws on a well-known model of how the nervous system reads safety and challenge, and turns it into practices you can use at your desk, before a hard conversation or at the end of a long day. You learn to notice your own signals, to settle your body with breath, sound and movement, and to meet yourself with curiosity and kindness.

The course follows three steps. In SEE you map your green, blue and red zones with My Nervous System Zones and explore My Change Response Profile. In SOOTHE you try short body-based practices such as Soothe with Sound, which uses humming and a low voice, Shake It Off and The Gentle Jiggle. In SETTLE you turn to the inner side with tools such as Reach for Self-Compassion and Build Self-Trust. Guided programmes then help you put it together, among them the Regulation Menu Builder, a structured taste test for finding the practices that suit you, and the Daily Reset Rotation, one practice a day across the week.

On WorkSmart4Life this course sits under Sustain, the move about energy and recovery.

I recommend beginning with My Nervous System Zones in the first module. A free 24-hour trial of the whole course lets you try the practices first.
